Stephen Vogt - Drums

Stephen Vogt started playing drums at the age of 12. Coming from a musical family, Stephen was encouraged to explore his talents beyond his first love, the piano ... so he starting playing drums, and has never looked back!

While in High School, Stephen enjoyed success playing drums and bass in the Jazz Ensemble, winning 2 consecutive State Championships. He was also a member of the SW District Jazz Band, and was personally recognized by both the National Association of Jazz Educators, and the Boston Jazz Society.

After school, Stephen moved to California, where he honed his skills as a R&B/funk player. He played with the Fusion band Sunburst, and also with the R&B band Special FX before returning to Massachusetts.

Back in the Boston area, Stephen played in various blues bands. He performed for many years with Busha and the C-Jammers, the blues/classic rock band Blue Streak, and as a free-lance player on bass and drums. In the early 90's he joined Grand Larceny, where he met Groove Street guitarist Nick DiFranco.. the two instantly formed a musical partnership, and have enjoyed playing great music together ever since.

His background in Jazz/R&B/Funk, as well as his love of this great music, helps Stephen and his talented bandmates define the "Groove" in The Groove Street Band!
